Review Your Politician (referred to hereafter as ‘we’ or ‘our’ or ‘us’) prioritises data privacy at all stages of our service. We allow users to submit their review publicly, while privately protecting their personal information from everyone, including from the politician reviewed.
The term ‘Site’ refers to reviewyourpolitician.com and sub-domains provided by Review Your Politician. Our service includes all data and information on the Site, social media platforms, email marketing channels, and any other reasonably associated services provided by Review Your Politician. Reference to the term ‘users’ refers to any person(s) visiting or using the services on our Site and will be referred hereafter as ‘you’ or ‘your’.
Our Policy explains what information we collect from you, how we collect it, and how we use it. This Policy is intended to be read and used in conjunction with our User Guidelines (referred to hereafter as ‘Guidelines’). By visiting, or using services on our Site, you agree to comply with all provisions of our Policy and for your personal information to be used subject to this Policy and the Guidelines.
We, Review Your Politician at 160 Kemp House, City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, recommend that you read, understand and accept in full this Policy and do not use this Site or services until you have done so. Your use of our Site is deemed to be explicit consent for any disputes to be determined in accordance with this Policy and the Guidelines and for your agreement of all terms within this Policy and Guidelines. If you do not accept this Policy and the Guidelines, you’re not permitted to use this Site or services, and we would kindly ask that you cease from doing so any further.

1.1 Data controller
We are the data controller of the information we collect on our Site or services as it relates to review submissions, profile claims or any other services on our Site where data is collected. You are also the data controller of the information you choose to consent to disclose on our Site or services.
1.2 Data processor
We use third-party providers to maintain various aspects of our services, including, but not limited to, the technical operations of this Site. By accepting our Policy, you consent and accept that we’re also permitted to allow the data for which we’re, and you’re, the data controller to be processed by the third-party data processors of our choosing, in accordance with the instructions to act in compliance with the instruction given by Review Your Politician to the data processors. By using this Site or services, you accept and authorise for us to instruct the third-party data processors to access and process the data under this Policy.
Review Your Politician may store, transfer or process your data in the United Kingdom (U.K.), European Union (E.U.) or the United States of America (U.S.).
By visiting our Site, or using our services, we may collect data and personal information about you. We use third parties to help us provide our services and to allow us to meet our business needs in their entirety. We authorise third parties to only access and use the information we collect to perform the defined tasks we’ve assigned to them on our behalf.
2.1 Review Submission
We require personal information when you submit a review on our Site. This information includes, but is not limited to, your name, email address, postal address, postcode, telephone number and social media information.
As part of the review submission process and specifically the verification process, you may be requested to submit further personal information as we deem necessary to use our services in compliance with our Guidelines. This may include but is not limited to, other demographic data.
2.2 Verification Process
As part of the verification process for reviews, we may require you to verify a review using email, SMS (text) message, social media, or any other method to ensure the integrity and trust of our service. This includes, but is not limited to, a sign up using Facebook Login or by way of a Facebook Like.
2.3 Claim Profile
We require personal information when a politician submits a claim for a profile on our Site. This information includes but is not limited to, the politician’s name, work email address, personal email address, postal address, postcode, telephone number, social media information, role or position in elected office, political party affiliation and constituency or ward represented in elected office.
As part of the claim profile process, you may be requested to submit further personal information as we deem necessary to use our services in compliance with our Guidelines. This may include but is not limited to, other demographic data.
2.4 Politician Registration & Login
After approval of a claim for a profile on our Site, we may assign you with a username and password to login to our private access area on our Site. You may request to change this information at any time, and any changes will be logged and collected by us as part of our security and support procedures.
2.5 Other Features
We may require additional information from you to use certain features on our service. If you want to download a report, a document, access trial services, or support from us, we may ask you for additional information, including but not limited to your phone number, and other personal information as is necessary in our view to the action that you are taking on our Site or services.
2.6 Social Media
When you use Facebook Login on our Site or services, we may request or have access to your profile, email address, gender, date of birth, profile photo and geographic location. You’re free to decline to permit us to this information by ceasing to use the services on our Site.
We may use automation to collect information about you when you use our Site or services via cookies, your IP address, Facebook Pixel and other technologies. See the section ‘Automation, Cookies & Other Technologies’ for more information.

3.2 Display Information
When you submit a review, your personal information will be kept private. Our Site and services may only display the general information in your review (e.g the performance ratings), and the general location of your review. We will not display or share your full name, telephone number, email or postal address (including postcode) without your express consent. Your review may be available on our Site, social media channels, search engines and any other marketing channels used by us.
We use your personal information, and any other information collected while using our services, for several purposes. This includes, but is not limited to:
Communicate with you about our services, to provide support, fulfil your request(s), to deliver any of the services outlined on our Site, or for any other business purposes by, including but not limited to, contacting you via email or on Facebook.
4.2 Improving, Tailoring & Research
Improving and tailoring the content on our Site and services for you or other users, to understand how users access and use our Site and services, and for research and analytical purposes.
4.3 Marketing Purposes
Marketing purposes to send you information, news, newsletters, reports, or any other marketing materials about us or our services. We may use the information that we gather about you to assist in providing our services to you, including on third-party websites, on social media sites, and by any other means. We will not show or share your full name, telephone number, email or postal address (including postcode) without your express consent. Your review may be available on our Site, social media channels, search engines and any other marketing channels used by us.
5.2 Third-Party Service Providers
We use several third-party service providers to perform our services. This includes, but is not limited to, domain and hosting providers, email providers, social media companies, and any other marketing providers used by us. We may disclose the information we collect from you to these third-party providers or any other agents and freelancers who perform work on our behalf.
5.3 Politicians Reviewed & Other Users
We may share your review(s) with the politician(s) that you’ve reviewed or with their staff. The scope of the information shared will be in accordance with this Policy. Unless expressly stated otherwise in this Policy, or consented to by you, your full name, email address, telephone number and postal address (including postcode) will not be shared.
We may also share your review with other users on social media, email, and for other marketing purposes.
If you’re a politician, we may share your response to a review on our Site or services.
5.4 Other Third-Party Providers
We may disclose non-personalised information from automation to our users, partners, politicians and any other persons on the internet to provide them with information on our services.
The categories of third parties to which the non-personal information is disclosed includes, but is not limited to, search engines, any services that operate within UK politics, or operators of any other websites, services or person(s) that are relevant in our opinion for the services provided by us.
5.5 Legal Purposes
To comply with UK law, any legal proceedings, court order, or any other legal process, we may disclose the information we collect from you.
5.6 Protection & Protection
We may disclose the information we collect if we believe it is necessary to prevent, investigate, or take action to protect against illegal activities, violence against person(s), violations of our Guidelines, this Policy, or as evidence in any (potential or actual) litigation against or by us.

6.2 IP addresses
When visiting our Site, your IP (Internet Protocol) address and browser details or settings on the device being used are logged on our system. The IP address refers to a unique number that gets linked to all online activity you do. The IP address and browser settings are logged to allow us to operate our security and verification procedures on behalf of all users using our Site or services, including for action against illegal activity or misuse.

We use services, such as Google Analytics, to monitor usage on our Site or Services, and to improve the performance for users using our Site or Services.

When you post reviews on our Site, services, or information on our social media channels, your posting may become public and we cannot prevent such information from being manipulated by others, or used in a manner that violates our Policy, the law, or your personal privacy rights. By using our Site and services, you are responsible for the accuracy of any information contained in your review and provided on our Site or services.

We, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), give you control over your personal data. Our Site and services are not intended for persons under the age of 16 years old, and we do not expressly market to persons under the age of 16. Specifically, reviews submitted by persons under the age of 16 will not be permitted on our Site or services.
