We should use Scandinavian country models as the basis for the development of the rights of British employees.

I don’t like the idea that people who do physical work (the workers) should be forced to work more than 40 hours a week to earn a ‘proper’ living wage. If an employer wants a worker to work more than 40 hours, it should be the worker’s choice (with no repercussions).

They are the people right at the heart of care for all regardless of illness, disability and age. They deserve a real living wage to give them a feeling of being worthwhile.

There is something dreadfully wrong with a society where overpaid politicians have heavily subsidised meals yet carers are struggling to make ends meet, even having to resort to food banks in some cases.

The staff provide an important social service – within our society and this will increase with an ageing population – this role should be supported with adequate training/ qualifications and should be rewarded financially for it.

I’m a care worker, I get 8.40 an hr. If I’m working 14.5hr shifts to look after people who can attack me I deserve to be paid a lot more than 8.40 an hr.

These heroes endanger themselves for peanuts and have done for too long. Just pay them, they are owed a doubt of gratitude by all of us.

Care workers provide an invaluable service and should be recognised for this. It takes a special person to do this job and they should be paid appropriately.

It’s a hard job – you’d want your sick /elderly relatives to get the best care. It helps if workers are respected by paying them a decent wage.

Everyone deserves a living wage, but through the pandemic, they have been at the forefront of looking after the elderly and putting themselves at risk.

As someone who worked for many years in this role, I know the level of work that a care worker carries out for a pittance. It is time to right a wrong and pay care workers a proper wage for the level of work they do.

Care workers put their life on the line…working all hours to do their job to the best of their ability. This country should at the very least pay a decent wage to these often unsung heroes and heroines.

Care workers support workers are looking after people who most of the time don’t have anyone else and should get paid more with lives in their hands.

As a care worker myself, I work a basic 30 hrs a week and have to pick up overtime every week to get enough to pay bills and support myself for the rest of the month.

I believe in giving children free school meals in the holidays as it is the absolute right thing to do!! It is never the child’s fault and most of the time it isn’t the parent’s fault either!!
