The hospitality industry has had to cope with govt safety requirements and many have spent significant amounts doing this. Appalling decision to shut them down for a virus that won’t go away whatever we do. We have to learn to live with it.

Pubs and social clubs have all mandatory rules and regulations in place to make them safe environments. Closing them would force people to have house parties with more than 6 people.

The hospitality industry has struggled to get back to work and does not warrant being closed down. The 10 pm curfew has clearly caused more havoc than good. =

Hospitality has done more to protect customers than any other business. I passed a betting shop last night after the bars closed and everyone inside the shop was NOT wearing a mask. It’s not hospitality that’s the problem, it’s people.

Banning alcohol in pubs will lead to thousands of jobs lost…Hospitality only accounts for 3-4% of all Covid-19 infections so the restrictions being imposed on Bars and Restaurants will have virtually no impact on the spread of the virus.

I do support the ban on pubs and restaurants, but the government also needs to acknowledge that educational institutions are contributing more to the spread of the virus.

No different than going to shops or sending children to school. More chance of catching it from children going in and coming out of school. There has to hundreds standing outside of schools waiting for children and there all huddled together.

We need to see if these places really are the causes of infection. If they are then it needs to stay in place. If it’s found they’re not then they should of course be able to reopen.

People are clearly not being responsible. It’s tough for the hospitality industry but it’s tough for a lot of us. It’s a crisis we have to pull together to get rid of the virus.

I would ban alcohol being sold at the moment due to people not paying attention to the rules when they have had too much. It also would help cut down on admissions to A/E due to accidents/injuries caused by too much alcohol, thereby allowing hospitals to cope better with a rise in infection rate.

We need to live with this virus not hide from it and kill the economy. Can’t live in fear anymore. Stand up and be free. Look after ourselves, not the government telling us where to go and who can attend.

We have the right to fun and freedom. We aren’t children banning us from certain activities like having a social drink with our friends is ridiculous. Pubs and restaurants have done a good job enforcing measures to keep those safe.

I support it. As hard as it is on publicans it may make people realise the damage they’re doing. It should also have been applied to off-licenses and the sale of drink banned in Supermarkets.

If there is a perception that alcohol is the problem then they should have banned ALL alcohol sales and let restaurants open but not serve alcohol.

People cannot be trusted to behave responsibly under the influence of alcohol. During a pandemic this is essential. People will continue to die if this isn’t taken seriously.
